What Can A Professional Organizer Do For Me?

Do you know how a professional organizer can help you?

I have found that a lot of people feel that a professional organizer is just someone who works with people with a lot of money. It is a luxury service that they don’t feel like they could benefit from.

Well, I have to tell you that you are totally wrong!

Most professional organizers don’t focus on luxury services. Most professional organizers are like the personal trainers of organizing. You have support while you are working out. So why not have help while you organize?

But What Can A Professional Organizer Do For Me?

Each professional organizer offers different services, but the overall goal is for a professional organizer to help you find ways to get your home organized.

There can be many ways that they do that.

Some may offer services where they will go through your stuff and tidy it up.

Others may offer services that support you in downsizing your items.

And others may coach you through the entire process.

You need to decide what you want out of your experience with a professional organizer. Not everyone wants the same thing. So figure out what your goal is and then find an organizer to help.

How Can You Find A Professional Organizer?

There are many different ways to find a professional organizer.

My favorite organizers are listed in my Professional Organizers Near Me page.

If you don’t see an organizer in your area, you can search on the NAPO website. NAPO is the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals.

KonMari consultants are excellent organizers as well. They follow the KonMari process while helping you declutter your entire home.

What Do I Look For In A Professional Organizer?

There are many things you should ask while interviewing a professional organizer.

The first question should be about their training. A professional organizer will have training in different parts of organizing. NAPO and KonMari offer trainings for organizers, along with other programs as well. This is important so you don’t end up hiring someone who just happens to be an organized person sharing what worked for them. You want to hire someone who is able to support you in organizing your items in a way that works for you.

Another question to ask is how they work through their process of organizing. Not all organizers follow the same framework. Which is great for you because you can find someone who works the same way you do. For example, there are some organizers who follow a method called “touch it once”. That method means that you can only touch an item once and decide if you want to keep it or not. This works for some people but not everyone. So if it doesn’t work for you, then you can keep searching for an organizer.

I would also make sure to ask about how the organizer charges. Different organizers offer different packages. Some charge by the hour. Some charge by the room. Find an organizer that will work within your budget as well.

What If I Don’t Want Anyone In My Home?

I understand that it can be overwhelming to having someone come into your home. So there are many professional organizers who offer virtual organizing. This is where we meet to see the space, come up with a plan. Then you do the work and have a follow-up call if necessary!

Virtual organizing is a great way to see if hiring a professional organizer is right for you!
