Adding Touches of Summer To Your Farmhouse Home Decor

May 22, 2018 | Crafts, DIY Projects

With summer quickly approaching (or suppose to be approaching here in the Midwest), I have started to add some touches of spring to my farmhouse home decor.

After completing our living room and entryway for the One Room Challenge, I wanted to keep my colors similar to what is already in the space. So I went with blues, greens, and pops of yellow, along with adding wood elements to my summer decor.

In addition to my mantel banner, I created a wooden heart sign that is hanging in my entryway! It’s the best way to greet guests for summer!

Tutorial

Step One

Trace the wooden heart onto your favorite pattern of the American Crafts Paper. I love the lemons because it just feels like summer!

Step Two

Cut out the heart.

Step Three

Run the cut out heart through your Xyron Creative Station. Make sure to rub the entire thing before you remove the top layer to ensure that it is fully sticky!

Step Four

Adhere the paper to the wooden heart.

Step Five

Cut out letters that say “hello summer”. I used my Cricut Maker to cut out the letters, but you can also hand write the letters!

Step Six

Run all the letters through the Xyron 1.5″ Sticker Maker.

Step Seven

Adhere letters to the heart.

Step Eight

Cut out some embellishments. I cut out the butterflies from the American Crafts Paper to add to the summer theme.

Step Nine

Run the embellishments through the Xyron 1.5″ sticker maker.

Step Ten

Adhere embellishments to the heart.

Step Eleven

Hang and enjoy!!

I absolutely love how the farmhouse home decor fits into the space! With the colors matching, yet it still feels summer-y, it is the perfect wall hanging for the entryway!
