Our laundry room was a total dumping ground for anything I wasn’t sure what to do with. Sound familiar?? I have organized a bunch of clients’ laundry rooms to find they have the same problem!
While I do love those pretty Pinterest-worthy laundry rooms, mine just wasn’t going to get there any time soon. So I took the “get it done” route, making this laundry room organization project 100% budget-friendly! Meaning I spent no money to create this space! And, I have to say, I am rather happy with how it turned out.
Budget-Friendly Laundry Room Organization For Small Spaces
Remove Everything
For this project, I removed everything (except the washer, dryer, and sink). I like to keep things clean before I start any organizing project!
For storage, I repurposed a bakers rack. It works well in the space because it gives me tons of shelving. Get creative with your shelving, like using a bakers rack, or adding shelves above the washer or dryer!
Also, make sure to utilize wall space! We hung our drying rack on a hook, along with hangers to act as a drying rack.
Only Keep Essentials
With any small space, you have to make sure you only keep what is essential. For us, I kept cleaning supplies, laundry detergent and sprays, along with rags/towels.
Use What You Have
When it comes to budget-friendly, start by “shopping your house”. Look around for any and everything that could help you organize a space. For us, it was glass vases that I wasn’t using frequently. So, instead of letting them sit around, I repurposed them to store clothespins, and sewing stuff!
Add Labels
I cut out vinyl labels using my Cricut Maker. If you don’t have a machine that cuts for you, use some of my favorite labeling supplies!
Make It Pretty
Once everything is organized, you can focus on making it look pretty. Because, let’s face it, you are probably doing laundry every day! So let’s make your space beautiful!!
I started by adding some pictures to the space. I cut out letters from my Cricut Maker and attached them to poster board. Then I framed it!
I also found fun laundry printables online. I also framed them.
Finally, I had some left-over removable wallpaper from the main floor bathroom. So I covered some of the hatches we have with the wallpaper!
