I love decorating for holidays! And decorating is super easy because I have all my supplies organized in giant bins, labeled in our basement!
So when I packed up our winter decor, I pulled out our Valentine decorations. In addition to some of my favorites, I wanted to add another wall piece for our dining area.
I made a butcher paper sign last month. I decided to create one for Valentine’s Day, since the winter sign was so easy to make!
How To Create Valentine Decorations: 3-D Heart Wall Art
- Cricut Maker
- Xyron 1.5″ Sticker Maker
- Red and Black Card Stock
- Butcher Paper
- Laser Level
- Scrap Paper
Using your Cricut Maker (or any paper cutting machine) cut out + and hearts.
You can also cut out these shapes by hand, but it might take some time, so I totally recommend getting something to help make the job go faster!
Run the pluses through your Xyron 1.5″ sticker maker.
Fold the hearts in half. Then run them through your Xyron 1.5″ sticker maker.
Cut your butcher paper to the size you want for the wall art. Make sure to leave some room above and below to roll!
Lay the butcher paper out and hold it in place with something small… I used dollhouse chairs!
Using your laser level for a straight line, put 5-6 plus signs on the line of the laser level on the butcher paper. Space them out however you want!
Continue using the laser level to put the plus signs on the butcher paper. I spaced them out randomly, but didn’t want any of them to be directly above each other.
Once all the plus signs are on the butcher paper, cut out a large heart with the scrap paper. Use the outline of the heart as the template for the 3-D heart art.
Lay the heart outline in the bottom left corner. Start adding the folded hearts to the outline of the heart template. Fill in the heart with all the folded hearts. I had to move some of the hearts so I could fit enough hearts on the paper.
Take the top of the butcher paper and lay the twine across the length of the paper. Then tie the twine so the butcher paper can hang.
Hang the butcher paper art. Then roll the bottom of the butcher paper up. If it doesn’t stay, use small paper clips to the back to hold it in place.
This sign is perfect for our home to add adorable wall decorations to go along with a bunch of other projects I have made!
