When it comes to gardening, my mom has the greenest thumb. She is really amazing at finding beautiful plants to grow, keep them alive, and maintaining a garden. Since we have lived in our house, I have learned a thing or two about keeping up a garden. I typically have my go-to’s when it comes to flowers, but I think I have learned what will grow and what won’t in our front garden bed.
But each year, when spring comes, I always forget what I did. So I have to look back at all my pictures to figure it out. Well, I am finally getting myself organized this year and creating a decorative gardening journal to use to record what worked and what didn’t!
This isn’t going to your typical gardening journal, but rather a decorative one using tags and gardening goodies from Graphic 45 and Xyron!
How To Create A Decorative Gardening Journal

Materials
- Graphic 45 Kraft Tags
- Xyron Creative Station Lite
- Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe Collection Chipboard and Tags/Pockets
- Xyron Tape Runner
- Binder Clips
Tutorial
Step One
Pop out the tags and pockets you want to use from the Floral Shoppe Collection sheet.
Step Two
Adhere the pockets together using the Xyron Tape Runner.
Step Three
Run all the items through the Xyron Creative Station Lite with permanent adhesive.
Step Four
Adhere the items to the Kraft tags. I created some tags with pockets and some with tags. Plus I wanted some embellishments to make the gardening journal more decorative!
Step Five
Continue to fill each tag with tags and pockets.
Step Six
Pop out the chipboard pieces you want to use.
Step Seven
Using the binder clip, attach the tag and chipboard together.
Step Eight
Fill out information you want to remember on each tag! I used some of the pockets to hold the planter tags. Then I wrote one each separate tag what I wanted to remember about what I planted where. One tag was for our front walkway. Another tag was for our backyard planters. Another one was all about what I planted in the front planter. I also recorded what I planted on the side of the house and in the backyard! This will help me keep track of everything in a decorative way!
Step Nine
Using the binder clips, attach the tags near your gardening supplies. For me, that is in our garage. I stored the tags on a shelf so I can see them and have them easily accessible when I need to know what to grab in the spring!
I think the paper made this gardening journal so special! I am hoping that I can make one for my mom for the holidays, as I know she will love it!!
