JANUARY 2015 UPDATE: I have tweaked this recipe a little bit because my husband really couldn’t stand the smell of the vinegar.  I added 3-4 drops of lemon essential oils to take away some of the vinegar scent.  I have also tried doTERRA On Guard Cleaner Concentrate as an alternative to the vinegar and water mixture.  It works really well and has a fresher scent then the mixture!

I try to clean the little man’s toys at least once a week.  It gets really challenging and really time consuming to have to wash every toy he has, especially after we have play dates at our house!  The store bought toy cleaning products can really be expensive so I wanted something cheap that I could make on my own.

When I was in college, I worked at a day care.  They used a cleaning solution in a spray bottle to spray down all of the toys every night.  I wanted something that would be that easy to do to clean his toys, so I found an almost empty spray bottle.  I cleaned out the bottle and took of the label with some Goo Gone and hot water.

Next, I measured out 2 cups distilled vinegar, 2 cups warm water and 3-4 drops of lemon essential oils.  I poured them into the spray bottle, shake, and spray!

I like how the recipe is super easy and safe.  If the vinegar is still wet and the little man puts it in his mouth, it’s fine for him to consume (just really doesn’t taste good!)  The smell of the vinegar completely disappears once it dries!
