This entire month I am focusing on organizing and decorating our bathrooms. After our kitchen renovation, I have been slowly taking my time reorganizing and decorating every space in our home. I figured by giving myself time to focus on organizing, I would get rid of a lot of the excess clutter we have accumulated with two kids.
In our house, we have two full baths and two half-baths. So keeping them organized can be a challenge. But I have some tricks up my sleeve for keeping bathrooms organized!
Under The Sink
There are sooooo many different containers for holding things under the bathroom sink, it can be hard to choose what is best for you!
I suggest to all my clients that when you are thinking about containers for organizing, you have to start by only keeping items you need/use.
Once you have gotten rid of the excess stuff, you can look at the remaining bathroom items. Put them in the location you would like to use them. Then sit with the “stuff” like that for a week.
If you are happy with the location of everything, then you can start looking for bins/holders/gadgets to help keep you organized. It is so important not to just buy containers and hope they work. Make sure you create an organizing system (where you want to keep things), then buy containers.
I use a ton of different organizing materials for different bathrooms, but some of my favorites include:

Drawers
My biggest advice for drawers is to make sure you line them with either drawer liner or wrapping paper. It really is a must to protect the inside of the drawers, especially with kids.
Once the drawer is lined, look at what you want to store in that drawer.
I love using drawer organizers, but hate when they slide around. So I add tape or 3M stickers to the bottom of the drawer organizer and to the wrapping paper.
This helps reduce the sliding of the organizers so everything stays in place!
Cabinets
I have some clients who have cabinets in the bathroom that the use as an extra linen closet. To keep those cabinets organized, we always start by looking at what they want to store in them.
Typically it is bath towels and extra bath stuff.
So, I always suggest using clear storage products! It is the easiest way to see what you have in those cabinets, and you are less likely to loose something in a back bin that you can’t see through.
If the cabinets are deep, I suggest that you store extras of the supplies in the front. This makes it easy to find them so you can refill quickly. For example, if you are keeping Q-Tips in the cabinet in a container, then store the extra boxes behind it. This way you won’t loose things hiding in the back.
Countertops
I really try to limit what is kept on the countertops. This helps you keep everything in its home, instead of all sprawled out on the counters.
If you do need stuff on the counters (we do because our master bath is tiny), keep things tidy by putting your bath items in a tray.
The tray gives the visual that things are tidy, and you are keeping them contained. And, storing countertop things in a tray makes wiping up the countertops that much easier, because you just have to move the tray!
Hanging Stuff
Hanging stuff, like towels, still need some organizing help every once and a while.
For starters, make sure that all your towels have a place to hang. I know it sounds obvious, when when you actually think about it, do all your towels have a hanger?!?!
You can use removable hangers, like 3M hangers. Or you can drill in some crazy octopus hangers. Or you can hang towel bars to hold your towels.
Any way you do it, just make sure that all of your towels have a place to call home!
Shower/Bath
Do you ever find yourself with too many conditioners and not enough shampoos in the shower?? Well, I use to love switching up my shampoo daily, but have come to realize that that whole to-do was creating a ton of excess clutter in my shower.
So, I decided to just buy small shampoo and conditioner bottles and switch them out whenever the bottles were through. This helped reduce so much excess clutter for us!
I also recommend only keeping the minimum of what you need in the shower. Meaning, don’t try to hoard all your bath stuff into your stand-alone shower. Only keep what you use daily. The rest can be stored under the sink or in a cabinet.
Also, get those products off the floor of your shower, or off the edge of your tub. Use a shower organizer to hold your shower supplies. It will make cleaning the space easier, and allow for minimal hoarding of excess stuff.
