While I am drinking my 1850 brand coffee, I like to select my top 3 things I need to accomplish during the day. It can be something super simple, like empty the dishwasher, or something more time-consuming like put away laundry. I try to keep my top 3 to things that are steps.

So instead of saying “laundry”, I would say “wash clothes”. By breaking down the tasks into steps, you are more likely to accomplish each task.

I also insist on writing it down. That way you are able to see everything you said you were going to do for the day!

Accountability

The last step in how to feel productive with kids is to make yourself accountable. There are a few ways that I have found to do that.

One way is to tell someone your top 3 for the day. A spouse or family member is an easy person to tell! Another way is to share it via social media. It’s your virtual way of writing it down and sharing what you plan to do. And a third way is to give yourself deadlines by setting timers on your phone. By this time you will have emptied the dishwasher for the day. That one little reminder will help keep you on track!
