I know that this may sound like an oxymoron…an organized craft room. But it is really possible!!

Having a creative mind means that things aren’t always organized like pretty Pinterest pictures. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have an organized craft room.

So let’s start by defining organized. For this post, organized means giving everything a place in your craft room. That means it just needs to be functional. Creating a pretty space is a plus, but not necessary.

How To Keep An Organized Craft Room

Some links may contain affiliates. This post was written as part of the Xyron Design Team in partnership with Lawn Fawn. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sorting

Start by sorting all your crafting supplies into groups or categories. I have created colored categories for clients. Grouped by product. Created categories based on how clients’ have used their crafting supplies. Grouped similar to a craft store set-up.

However you group your craft supplies, make sure you keep all your crafting categories together. For more sorting tips, check out how I break it down here.

Storing

Once all the craft supplies are grouped together, create storage for each particular item. Make sure the storing is big enough to hold one category. I strongly discourage clients to store more than 1 category in a drawer -or- spread out 1 category over more than 1 storage location. I do this because things can easily get lost when they are not all contained by category.

Labeling

All the craft supplies are sorted and stored, the final step to keeping an organized craft room is labeling everything!! And what better way to create labels, then to use all your incredible crafting supplies?!?!

Materials

Tutorial

  1. Cut out a banner shape in DCWV paper.
  2. Then cut out a smaller banner shape in a different colored paper.
  3. Run the smaller banner shape through the Xyron Creative Station Lite with permanent adhesive refill.
  4. Adhere each smaller banner to the larger banner.
  5. Stamp the Lawn Fawn stamps on the black licorice ink onto white paper.Learn easy ways to keep an organized craft room by redefining what it means to be organized and effective ways to create that space.
  6. Cut out a rectangle around each stamp.
  7. Using the die cuts, place over the stamp and run through the die cutting machine.
  8. Run each die cut through the Xyron 1.5″ sticker maker.
  9. Adhere each die cut to each banner.Learn easy ways to keep an organized craft room by redefining what it means to be organized and effective ways to create that space.
  10. Write one category on each label banner. I made mine go in conjunction with the stamp/die cut.
  11. Hole punch each end of the banner label.
  12. Attach the banner label to the mesh bin using decorative brads -or- run the entire banner label through the Xyron Creative Station Lite with repositionable adhesive to a box or bin for labeling.

Now all your craft supplies are organized because you sorted, stored, and labeled where all the craft supplies should go! By keeping all your craft supplies grouped by category, and giving each category a particular “home” with designated (and crafty) labels, you can easily keep an organized craft room.
