We have one bookshelf in the play room that was a dark wood and Ben painted it white to fit in better with the space. I store books, puzzles and diapers on the bookshelf so I never really made it look pretty. Just wanted something functional.
Well, I got bored with functional and wanted to change it up a bit, so I decided to add a design to the back of the shelves. I started with purchasing contact paper from Target. After I emptied and cleaned the shelves and backing, I cut the contact paper to fit the backing because the shelves are built in. Then I slowly started to put the contact paper on the backing of the shelves. I smoothed out the air pockets and was done! Took a total of 30 minutes to complete this project and am enjoying a quick and easy change to our bookshelf!
