The Power of Routines

Lauren shared that the most effective way to simplify our homes is by establishing and maintaining routines. According to her, routines help solve recurrent problems, reduce stress, and make daily life more manageable.

Breaking Down Routines: Daily, Weekly, and Monthly

Daily Routines

Daily routines are personal and should be tailored to fit our unique schedules. Lauren recommends starting small, even if it’s just committing to a simple task like doing a load of laundry every day. This can help us stay on top of household chores and free up time for other activities. For instance, starting a load of laundry in the morning can lead to a less cluttered and more organized day.

Weekly Routines

Weekly routines prepare us for the upcoming week and ensure that everyone in the family is on the same page. Lauren suggests activities like meal prepping, packing lunches, and reviewing the family calendar during a Sunday reset. This not only helps in managing time but also reduces mental clutter.

Monthly Routines

Monthly routines, or resets, address less frequent but equally important tasks. This could include household maintenance like dusting hard-to-reach areas, washing the car, or doing bulk shopping at stores like Costco. These tasks don’t need to be done weekly, but keeping them on a monthly checklist ensures they aren’t neglected.

Tips and Tricks

In our discussion, Lauren and I shared practical tips like pre-buying gifts for upcoming birthdays to eliminate last-minute shopping stress. We also encourage families to hold regular meetings to keep everyone informed and organized.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, Lauren believes that decluttering and establishing routines that are easy to maintain can significantly reduce household stress. These routines should feel like solutions to existing problems rather than adding more chores to our list.
