Spring is right around the corner and the warmer weather is going to make it difficult to concentrate on what we need to get done. To keep yourself on track with cleaning, these 5 tips are sure to help you manage your time better so you can spend more of it outdoors having fun!
Use Visual Timers
To help stay on track, visual timers are the perfect tool to help. Set the time you want to complete a task…say you want to swap out all the winter clothing for summer clothing in your closet. So you set the visual timer for 30 minutes. And you get to work!
Use the visual timers to help you create time blocks in your day so you can get things clean and organized too. There are many types of visual timers. My favorites are the clock timer, cube timer, and sand timer.
Time-Block Your Day
Time-blocking your day is when you group like tasks together and give yourself a break in between.
Let’s say you work from home, so you set your visual timer for 45 minutes to get through emails. Then you can schedule a 15 minute break to move around, fill up your water, or complete an organizing task.

Create Project Boards
A project board is a board where you write down all the projects you want to accomplish. I love creating a project board for spring cleaning because it allows you to see everything you want to get done.
To create a project board, use any type of board. Then add Post-It notes with specific projects you want to complete. Write down the large tasks on large Post-It notes. Then break down smaller tasks to create actionable tasks you can do in your time-blocks.

Set Up Routines + Habits
Another easy way to stay productive with spring cleaning is to create habits or routines where you do small tasks throughout your day.
As you time-block your day, you can also incorporate organizing habits to keep things tidy.
Once your visual timer goes off from your schedule work time-block, you can spend 15 minutes doing one small cleaning task. Maybe it is to tidy your desk. Or maybe put your coffee cup in the dishwasher.
When you do small tasks throughout your day, you are more likely to keep things clean and tidy.

Create Caddy’s
Have you ever noticed that when you start to clean, you can get easily distracted? Like you start a project, but quickly find you don’t have everything you need to finish that project. So you end up looking for something, like a cleaning product, only to start organizing and decluttering a new space before the other space was completed?
I know I have done that far too many times.
Which is why I love creating caddy’s before I start any project.
Group the items you need together for cleaning. Then store in a caddy to use as you clean areas of your home. This also helps as you use your 15 minute time-block break to do a quick task without spending any time searching for items you need.
I also create a declutter caddy to help with any organizing and decluttering projects.
Bringing It All Together
Using these 5 tips together to help with spring cleaning is sure to help you stay focused. Make sure you use a visual timer when time-blocking your day. Create habits or routines to do the small tasks. Break down tasks on a project board. And create caddy’s to make cleaning go quickly.
