Do you struggle with deciding what to wear each day? Are you constantly saying that you don’t feel good in any of your clothes? Creating a capsule wardrobe can help! That is this week’s topic on Organizing Tune-Ups!

Show Notes
Capsule wardrobes were really big for a while, but things have since quieted down. People are looking for ways to reduce their clothing clutter and waste, and a capsule wardrobe can help!
A capsule wardrobe is a standard wardrobe you circle through with your clothing. This concept started when people noticed that big tech company executives repeatedly wore the same things.
Think about it: men’s clothing options aren’t nearly as numerous as women’s clothing options. This reduced the thought process of what to wear for men. After noticing this, women created a capsule wardrobe that would allow them to mix and match pieces in a smaller wardrobe.
From here, the concept developed into the seasonal capsule wardrobe so someone wasn’t confined to a smaller wardrobe year-round.
I absolutely love capsule wardrobes. Just like in your home, your clothing should be your favorite pieces. It also limits the amount of clutter in your mind since you don’t have to think as much about what you are going to wear.
Don’t Worry About Trends
Remember, capsule wardrobes aren’t based on trends but on what makes you feel good.
It may not seem that serious, but anyway, you can limit the decision fatigue in your life, which will help your overall productivity.
So, how do you start a capsule wardrobe? There really isn’t a tried and true method that works for everyone.
If you are someone who knows what looks and feels good on you, assess what you currently have by laying everything out and then picking some items that you love that also go well together.
If you love collecting clothes, stop and think, “Does this go well with the other items in my wardrobe?” By organizing your closet into colors, you can also help with this process so that you can think through what you currently have in that style/color. It’ll help immensely!
Another great option when creating a capsule wardrobe is to find a stylist. Some stylists actually specialize in capsule wardrobes! Think of it this way: when you want a new workout program, you hire a trainer to help you. It is the same thing!
Set aside time to go through your clothing and start making that capsule wardrobe! You will be glad you did.
