So it is finally time to reveal out modern farmhouse living room for the one room challenge!! I have been stressing about this entire room for the past 5 weeks.
And am glad to say that I am finished-ish… It is such a huge improvement from where we started, but it still isn’t done.
That’s the thing with these challenges, it is total motivation for me to make decisions, but I never want to rush.
My original plan was to add more seating in the bay window so we could eventually add in built-ins around the fireplace to hold a t.v. I forgot about one tiny detail… the air vent that would be covered by any couch we put in the bay window. So my plans had to change!

Recap
I started the challenge by hanging curtains in the bay window. This was massive improvement because we had gone over a year without any window treatments.

Then we painted the fireplace and mantel. Again, another drastic improvement to this room. It totally felt very “HGTV” as my husband called it.
I restyled all the shelving, like the minimalist that I am.
I didn’t by anything new for the shelving. So I just shopped our house!
And I added some handmade pieces to go along with the decor on the shelves.

We swapped out the outlets so we could have some USB plug-ins in the living room.
This is super helpful since this is going to be a place where we hang out more.
And, let’s face it, my phone is never fully charged! So having these outlets that have the USB already in them is a huge deal!

Paint Colors
Our front door is yellow painted in Sunrays by Benjamin Moore.
All the interior doors and fireplace mantel are painted in Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams.
Our walls are painted in Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore and our accent walls are Shadow by Benjamin Moore.
Our fireplace brick is painted in Extra White by Sherwin Williams, along with all our trim.

Furniture
Our entryway table was found at Home Goods. I painted it for the one room challenge to create a different look since we have had it for over 5 years!

Our bench is from IKEA. I reupholstered the bench with indoor/outdoor fabric. You can read how I did that here!
The shelving over the bench is also from IKEA. It was part of an entertainment set.
We took that shelving off, hung it to the wall, and added hooks!

Our entryway console is also from, you guessed it, IKEA!!
It was part of the entertainment set, along with the two shelving units next to the fireplace!
The leather couch is from a local furniture store. And the chairs are from Target!! The ottoman is from Joss and Main.

Details
While all this redecorating and restyling was going on, I made sure to get our front hall closet organized.
I moved all our winter jackets and out-of-season supplies into the closet so they weren’t taking up space in our mudroom!

The entryway blue rug is from Target, while the living area rug is from Wayfair.
All the baskets are from Target, because I wanted them all to match.

Our entryway mirror is from Hobby Lobby, while the wreath is from Target.
Plus the handmade, knit blanket in the basket by our entryway was made by a dear friends’ mom when my son was born.
It was just too pretty to put away, so I have had it displayed somewhere in the house!

I am a lover of all living things, so while I don’t add a lot of “stuff” to my space, I do like to keep it green!

All these plants are from different grocery stores in the area. Yes, that is correct, grocery stores have the best flowers and plants!!

The mantel mirror is from Target, while the large vase is from World Market. The flowers inside are from a store in Minneapolis!
All of our picture frames are from IKEA, and all the pillows and throws are from Target!

Our end table was created by using an existing table, then adding a basket from RGI Home on top!

I am just so thrilled with how the entire room turned out. We are already using the room more than we did before, because it feels more cozy and home-y!!
