Create The Morning Routine For Kids

When creating a morning routine for kids, you want to make sure you are only doing the least amount of things possible. That means only do what is necessary. Everything else should be done when you have more time. I like to keep it simple! Write down all the things that have to be done in order to leave the house. Then try to get a few of those tasks done the night before. Maybe pack backpacks or pick out clothing. Then write down the tasks you need the kids to do in the morning. This will help eliminate some of the stress with the morning routines.

For us, the kids don’t like packing their lunches the night before because they complain that their food gets soggy. So we pack in the morning before breakfast. But if your kids don’t mind, then they could try to pack the night before. We use the Planet Box lunch boxes to help the kids pack their own food. The divided compartments help them get the best portions for what they actually eat.

The rest of the tasks the kids do in the morning involves making their breakfast, making their bed, and getting dressed.

We try to pack backpacks the night before so we aren’t rushing with that task in the morning.

Use Checklist To Keep You On Track

The best way to keep everyone on track is to use a checklist. I have free morning routine checklists you can download here. Included in the downloads are two checklists that you can write your schedule on. I suggest laminating the checklists and using a whiteboard marker to have the kids check off each task every day. Then they can wipe off the checks at night. I also included the picture and text morning routine. I suggest laminating this checklist and using velcro to add each picture to the checklist. Then the kiddos can remove the task once they complete it!

Now you will have a morning routine for kids that everyone can follow!
