Organizing the entire house can feel like a massive undertaking. You may feel like everything is cluttered. So you want to tackle everything. But then the overwhelm sinks in. And you don’t do anything.
But what if I told you there is a way that is manageable and super helpful for the ADHD brain?
This strategy is something I do all the time. I don’t have a fancy name. It’s just a simple strategy.
Materials You Will Need
In order to do this simple strategy you will need:
- Paper
- Pencil or marker
- Eyeballs
What To Do To Organize The Entire House
To do this simple home organizing project, you start by walking through your entire house and writing down areas you feel are cluttered.
This could be specific rooms, spaces, drawers, anything.
By walking through your entire house, you can creating a practical plan for areas that are actually disorganized.
Instead of focusing on everything, you are able to focus on cluttered areas you see with your eyeballs.

Where To Start With Organizing The Entire House
I like to start from the front door. Then make my way around the house.
Make sure to walk through every room or space in your home.
It may even be helpful to walk the perimeter of the room to get different views of the space. Because there may be an angle of the room where you notice more clutter than from a different angle.
Why This Works
This process works because it takes the big, overwhelming feeling that everything is cluttered to tangible spaces that are truly cluttered.
You will see everything that is cluttered written down instead of overthinking it in your brain.
Plus, it helps you conceptualize what actions need to be taken next.

How To Break It Down Even More
Now you may find that you wrote down an entire room. And that room feels overwhelming.
So let’s break it down even more.
Start by going into that room. Listing the specific areas you want to tackle.
Maybe it is your dining room. You have the dining room table cluttered with things. And you have your sideboard cluttered with stuff. Along with things on the floor.
You can write down each of those three areas you want to organize.
Then you start on one of those areas. Just clear the clutter from the sideboard. Cross that off your list.
You can move onto the next area of pause for the day.
By breaking the organizing tasks down into small, manageable tasks, you are able to tackle your entire home!
