Anyone else have a stashes of coupons and gift cards lying around your house/car/purse? I sure do! And while it’s a bit daunting to organize all the gift cards and coupons we get daily, there is hope–I promise.
Check out my tips below so you don’t lose your coupons and gift cards, resulting in a loss on savings)!
How To Organize Coupons and Gift Cards

I have tried many methods for coupon organization over the years, and found that keeping them sorted by store is the best way.
My all time favorite way to organize coupons and gift cards is storing them in a file folder holder. Not the accordion holders, as you can easily lose coupons that slide to the bottom. But in separate holders, like envelopes!
Step 1: Round Up Coupons and Gift Cards
Find every single coupon and gift card you have lying around. Search your purses, bags, car, and bedrooms. Create one large pile.
Step 2: Check Expiration Date
Check every single expiration date–there is no point in holding on to an expired coupon! If you are super daring, you can try to combine this step with the next.
Step 3: Sort By Store
Make piles of coupons for each store. I have a lot of Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupons and Buy Buy Baby coupons.
Step 4: Create File Folders
I love using a file folder system for coupons and gift cards because it keeps things neatly contained. I created my custom mini file folders using the Spellbinder Platinum Die Cutting Machine and mini file folder die cut. It is such a cool tool!
Materials Needed:
- Spellbinders Platinum Die Cutting Machine
- Spellbinders Mini File Folder Die Cut
- DCWV Paper Stack
- Hard Case Cover (Found mine at The Container Store)
Folder Tutorial
Step 1: Fold one piece of DCWV paper in half.
Step 2: Set up the die cutting machine like a sandwich. Start with a cut plate, add the face-up die cut on top, add paper, then another cut plate.
Step 3: Repeat as needed.
Step 4: Write down each store and create an extra folder for gift cards.
Step 5: Store all your coupon file folders in a hard-cover case and throw it in your purse! Now you will have coupons and gift cards whenever you are, without having to worry about leaving the house without them!
