In this episode of Organizing Tune-Ups, we delve into the concept of the “maybe bin” and how it can transform your approach to decluttering and organizing.

Show Notes
So why are we talking about the maybe bin? Great question! The maybe bin is a strategy that can help you with the overwhelm you may feel during the declutter process.
What is a maybe bin? It’s a designated box, bin, or basket where you will put an item if you aren’t sure if you want to keep it or not.
You may not be sure if you are able to part with an item at this moment, and that’s completely ok! By utilizing a maybe bin, you will see exactly what you use and what you can part with.
Let’s use the kitchen as an example. You are decluttering your kitchen, and you realize that you have a cooking gadget that you are unsure what to do with it. You don’t necessarily use it every day, but you can’t say that you don’t use it either. What now? Put it in the maybe bin.
Put a reminder on your phone to check the bin one month from that date. If the situation arises where you need the item, you know exactly where it is located. But if you haven’t used it by the time your reminder goes off in one month, you can be confident that you can part with it.
This allows you to have another option to keep you from making a rash decision. You have a safety net for those questionable items that will help you feel confident in your choices.
Do you often feel regret after decluttering? This strategy would be great for you!
To create this maybe bin, you just need a bin. Yes, it’s that easy. I do recommend keeping a lid on it, but it isn’t necessary.
