Family Games
Triggle is like dots and boxes but with triangles and rubber bands. Everyone in the family enjoys playing this one together.
Sequence is a game we played forever. With teams of two, you have to create a sequence using cards and tokens. It is both skill, logic, and luck.
Rack-o is a game my husband played when he was growing up. The goal of the game is to get all your cards in sequential order before your opponents by only pulling the cards from the deck.
Telestrations can be one of those games that could go in the adult category or the family…depending on how you play it!
Mancala is a game I loved growing up. You move along the board you collect rocks. The goal is to have the most rocks at the end of the game.
If you ever find Yahtzee boring, this is a great alternative. It is a quick, fast-paced game everyone can enjoy.
If you liked Tetris, Blokus is the board game for you.
Travel Games
These games are perfect for long car rides or just keeping everyone occupied while waiting at a restaurant.
This flippy game was a life-saver while waiting in line for rides at Disney.
Brain Cheesers is a staple in our car. You have to try to solve the different problems using the magnetic pieces.
Penguins is another fun travel game. Perfect for restaraunts.
Card Games
Yes, I know these aren’t board games, but I still needed to include them in the list.
The first card game that can act like a board game is set. This game requires you to find groups of cards with the same attributes.
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is an easy and addictive game to play with the whole family. You place cards down while saying “taco”, “cat”, “goat”, “cheese”, “pizza”.
If you place a card in the pile that matches what you are saying on your turn, you have to smack the pile. Last one to smack the pile gets all the cards.
Another take on Uno. This time, with two-sided cards.
Unstable Unicorns is a fun card game with some strategy for older kiddos to enjoy.
STEM Games
Cat Crimes is one of our favorites. You have to try to figure out which cat caused the disaster in the house by using clues.
They also make Dog Crimes.
Qwirkle Cubes is a fun game for sequencing, pairing and strategy.
Genius Squares is a great game to play by yourself or against an opponient.
Quaddrillion is a fun game that builds on skills to create different patterns given.
Adult Games
These games are best for adults or teens.
Settlers of Catan is a competitive game in our family…and my assistants’ family!
This game was recommended to me because I love the game Clue (and the movie)!
