Yup, there is a holiday dedicated to organizing your home office! So take action to celebrate National Organize Your Home Office Day with these 5 tips to create a more orderly office space.
Start With The End In Mind
When you have an idea of how you want your office to feel, you can begin to create that space in your home office. Maybe you want a tranquil space. Maybe you need a bright space. Or maybe you want a desk that has nothing on it.
Whatever it is, start with that vision. Then remove everything from your desk. Only put back items that fit the vision you have in your head.
Repeat this process for drawers, countertops, and other areas of your home office that may have piles or unwanted clutter.
Remove the items that do not fit into that space. Find a different space for them to go. Or remove them from your home all together.

Go As Paperless As Possible
While I know you can’t go full on paperless, you can go paper-less!
Start by replacing notepads for reusable notepads, like the Quartet Dry Erase Notepads and weekly calendars.
Turn as many documents as you can into digital documents. This will eliminate paper clutter from piling up. Which is a big cause of clutter in home office spaces.

Organize Leftover Papers
The paper that you will have should have a plan. While I do appreciate filing cabinets, I don’t always find them helpful to keeping your paper clutter organized. Instead, try using magazine holders or trays for actionable papers. These are things like bills or school forms.
Protect your privacy and shred unwanted documents in a shredder. I like to keep ours by our garbage can in the office. This helps make shredding things quick and easy.

Group Like Supplies Together
While you may want your desk cleared off, you need to make a plan for office supply items. And I suggest storing them together in a drawer or cabinet in your home office. Drawer organizers are the best option for storing things like pens, markers, scissors, paper clips, and staples.
Desktop drawers make the best solution for storing your notepads, business cards, and charging cords.

Create A Tranquil Environment
Did you know that having a plant in your office can increase your productivity?
Researchers have found that when you have plants or greenery in your environment, you are more productive and happy. So add your favorite greenery to your home office space to increase your productivity!
