How To Organize Linen Cabinets

Give Each Shelf A Category

Whenever I start to organize linen cabinets, I remove everything and sort into categories. This helps me decide how much space specific things need.

For example, if a linen cabinet is used for all extra bath supplies, I might create zones for each of those supplies. One for travel. One for teeth. One for shower. One for face. One for nails. You get the idea!!

Then I designate a shelf or shelves to those categories. I try to keep towels in the middle since they are used the most frequent.

Bulk supplies are either on top or bottom. Then I do sheets above towels, along with extra bath stuff!

Use Appropriate Bins To Organize Line Cabinets

Not all bins are a good fit for linens. This is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to organizing! I really hate seeing a good organizational system fall apart because of ineffective bins.

What I always recommend is gathering up all the items you would like to fit in one bin. Then see if you have a bin that might work.

Make the bin fit your stuff, not the other way around!

Don’t Forget About The Doors

Utilizing the doors for smaller things like medicines or bath supplies really is a space saver.

Plus things won’t get lost behind bins, towels or sheets!

Fold Towels To Fit Space

I have a few ways that I fold towels for linen cabinets. You can fold them so you can get two rows, or you can fold them long so you can stack the towels.

If you are folding for two rows, I recommend folding the towel in half (like a hot dog). Then fold the top down about one-third (like a hamburger). Fold that third over itself. Then fold in half.

If you are folding long, fold the towel in half (like a hot dog). Then fold in half again.

Store Sheets In A Bin To Organize Linen Cabinets

Another easy storage solution for sheets is to store them in a bin. This way you never have to worry about folding those fitted sheets!

Even though I know how to fold fitted sheets, and it doesn’t bother me, I still store all the sheets in bins.

It makes it so much easier when it comes time to change the sheets. I just grab that bin and swap them out!
